Audi A4 Brake Pressure Sensor

Solved: Audi A4 ABS disabled warning light

Warning lights on your dashboard are never a good sign. They always crop up when you least expect them. And they’re something you shouldn’t turn a blind eye to, hoping they’ll go away.

When Mrs P brought her Audi A4 to us at RM Motors, she had an “ABS Disabled” warning light on her dashboard.

While her vehicle still worked and had been for a few weeks, it’s not what you want to see when you start your car.

Your ABS (Anti-locking Braking System) helps you steer during an emergency by restoring traction to your tyres. It prevents your wheels from locking up, so you can steer to safety.

It’s the last thing you want to be faulty; it puts your and others’ safety at risk.

As with most vehicle faults, the longer you leave them, the worse they become. Your ABS is no exception, so the issue needed to be fixed immediately.

Luckily, Mrs P brought her vehicle to our Audi experts at RM Motors.

What we found

During the initial inspection, we used our decades of experience and Audi manufacturer information to narrow down the fault’s cause.

As your local Audi specialist, we have access to the same information the main Audi dealership does. So you get a dealership-level service for better value.

Once the initial inspection was complete, it was clear there was a hidden problem which needed further investigation.

Our Audi specialists had an idea of what was happening but wanted to confirm their suspicions before proceeding.

Diagnosing the fault

At RM Motors, our expert Audi technicians use a multi-step diagnostic process to identify faults other garages might miss. We find the root cause of the problem quickly, saving you time, stress, and money.

During our multi-step process, Mrs P’s A4 showed an error code (C11EC04) alongside the warning light.

While this error code might not mean much to you, to our Audi experts, it paints a picture. It revealed an issue with the Audi A4’s brake pressure sensor 1.

Our experts had experienced this problem before and knew it needed to be solved immediately, or it could worsen, resulting in the entire ABS module needing replacing.

Unfortunately for Mrs P, this was the case. The ABS warning light had been unchecked for too long, and the ABS module couldn’t be saved.

When a warning light appears on your dashboard, the worst thing you can do is “leave it til later”; it’ll only worsen and become a more complex (and costly) job.

Our technicians are experienced with Audi’s ABS module and confident they could give Mrs P a quality fix quicker than the local Audi dealership.

Fixing the car

Once our expert technicians identified the problem, they reported to Mrs P, informing her about needing a new ABS module, and asked if she’d like us to proceed.

At RM Motors, you’re always kept in the know. We only begin working on your vehicle once you’ve given us the go-ahead. You’re always in complete control.

Mrs P agreed to the work, and our Audi specialists got to work.

However, replacing the ABS module isn’t a straightforward “swap and done” kind of job. To fix the Audi A4’s ABS warning light, our experts needed to do the following:

  • Replace the brake pressure sensor.
  • Replace the ABS pump.
  • Reprogramme and code the pump to the vehicle.
  • Put the Audi through rigorous testing.

Luckily, our technicians have the experience, skills, and technical expertise to replace the parts and reprogramme the ABS pump.

This is something your “average” garage might be unable to do.

Once the necessary work had been completed, we put Mrs P’s Audi A4 through its paces, ensuring the ABS system was in top working condition.

The last thing we’d want is to send Mrs P on her way only to have her return a few days later with the same problem.

The Audi A4 passed our tests with flying colours, with the ABS system working perfectly. And the ABS warning light had gone.

Mrs P was over the moon to have her car back in less time than she’d expected. Our technicians turned the vehicle around within two days, which the main Audi dealership couldn’t have done.

Plus, Mrs P got better value. What more could you want?

With the ABS warning light issue solved, Mrs P could confidently leave RM Motors, knowing her Audi A4 was safe to drive again.

Summary

When Mrs P’s Audi A4 had a worrying ABS warning light on her dashboard, she brought her car to RM Motors.

Our expert Audi technicians have plenty of experience working with all Audi vehicles and have solved this issue before.

After a thorough inspection using their extensive knowledge and our multi-step diagnostic process, our specialists discovered the route of the problem.

The Audi A4’s brake pressure sensor had failed and needed replacing.

However, as the warning light had been left unchecked for a few days, the issue had worsened, leaving the entire ABS module needing a replacement.

Fortunately, our technicians are Audi experts and know to check the entire ABS system. This is something other garages might have missed.

Once the necessary parts had been replaced and reprogrammed, Mrs P’s Audi A4 ran like new without the ABS warning light.

Mrs P was pleased to have her car back in a safe condition within two days (which is quicker than the leading Audi dealership).
